Daniels, Babb leave Lions for arch-rivals

COLUMBUS (WTVM) - Call it a roster raid.

Veteran Columbus Lions defensive back Damian Daniels and linebacker Ryan Babb signed with the arch-rival Albany Panthers it was announced on Thursday.

Daniels spent five years with the Lions, winning league defensive MVP honors four of those five seasons. Last season, the former Shaw Raider led the SIFL with 18 interceptions, and has 76 picks in his career.

Babb, who played high school ball at Central, is a three-year veteran who has 15 career interceptions, six returned for touchdowns.

The Panthers won the SIFL title last season.

The two teams are part of the newly formed Professional Indoor Football league, which will begin play this spring.

The Lions play at Albany on April 21, and host the Panthers at the Civic Center on May 5.
