The Russell County Sheriff's Office has just welcomed a new chief deputy, but it's a role he is familiar with. William Alexander will now serve as second in command to Sheriff Heath Taylor.
Alexander spent 21 years working for the sheriff's office, before he made the move to Homeland Security, but now he's glad to be back serving in law enforcement.
Alexander told FOX 54, "With technology changing and the country growing there are several challenges ahead of us and we are going to meet them head-first and do the best we can to offer the citizens of Russell County the best possible service."
For the past four years Alexander has served as the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director for Russell County.
His official start as the new chief deputy will be February 20th.
