Columbus nursing student wins $7M playing scratch off game

A Columbus nursing student won quite a nice prize after playing a Georgia Lottery scratch off game called $7 Million Jackpot.  Mattie Billingsley, 49 says, "I can't stop crying. "They're tears of joy."

Billingsley bought two tickets from a CITGO Food Mart on 5th Street in Columbus. She and her husband scratched the tickets at home Thursday.

Her husband scratched the winning ticket. He initially thought they won $7,000. He looked at the ticket again then said, "Baby, guess what. That's $7 million. You see that comma after those zeros."

"We gave each other a really big hug," said Billingsley.

She claimed her prize Friday.

Billingsley and her husband have six grown children and 12 grandchildren. She also has six months of nursing school left. She told lottery officials she is furthering her education now that her children are grown, "I've gotten the kids out the way. Now it's mommy time."
