Young aspiring poets gathered for the very first Fountain City Teen Poetry Slam.
Saturday's event was considered a workshop for all young artists. The workshop was held at Spencer High School and will prepare the students for the Brave New Voices poetry competition in San Francisco, California.
Brave New Voices 2012 will feature a diverse group of young writers, trendsetters and community and cultural leaders, as well as world-class workshops led by renowned poets and artists.
The festival highlights arts education and performance, local program development and national movement organizing.
