Former Columbus police officer sentenced to 5 years in prison

A former Columbus police officer will spend half a decade in prison for robbing a Columbus bank August 3 of last year.

Edward Pascucci, a former Columbus police officer, will spend the next five years and three months in prison.

On Thursday, in federal court, Pascucci reportedly apologized for his actions saying he feared being homeless, had serious health issues, and wanted to be put in federal prison for help.

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations said Pascucci walked into the Citizens Trust Bank with a .357-caliber revolver and demanded money in August.

Investigators said a security guard was able to hold Pascucci until a Columbus Police officer could arrest him.

Reportedly, the gun he carried into the bank was not loaded.
