COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The day after the bodies of a mother and son were discovered at a home on Howe Street, Vince Harris, the man who police say is a primary person of interest returned to the scene. While we were there, Harris wanted to talk to us about what he says happened Friday afternoon.

"I got off work at 12:40pm, so I got here about 1:00-1:05pm. The trash had already been picked up, so I put that back in place. Then, I went inside. The house [was] really quiet," Harris said.

Harris says he followed his normal routine of hanging up his lunch box. Then, he tells us he went into Tina Hall's bedroom where he noticed something out of the ordinary.

"I saw her lockbox where she keeps her gun... it was open. That was strange. That box should not have been open," Harris said.

To Harris' surprise, the gun was not inside the box. He then begin to search through the house starting with little Jeremy's room.

"I pushed the door open there was my best friend and her son.  I don't even want to describe what I saw. I touched her to try to wake her. Then I felt for a pulse in the neck and there was no pulse in the neck. I [went] outside, got my phone out my car and I called 911," Harris said.

Investigators and police immediately responded. Harris was taken to the police department for questioning where he would stay until midnight. Investigators say he is a primary person of interest but is not a suspect.

Harris says a number of people have lashed out calling him a murderer. He told us  that he loved his best friend Tina Hall and her son Jeremy.

"I know for a fact I have not touched Tina. There is no way I could touch Tina or her son," Harris said.

The person who pulled the trigger, killing a beloved mother and her young son, remains a mystery. Detectives say they are still interviewing witnesses with hopes of finding out what led to the two violent deaths.
