Man hit while riding bikes with family

Mary Greene says her brother Terry Guthery loves antique bikes and thought Sunday would be the perfect day to get out and enjoy the weather.

"It's was a beautiful day. It's been a long time since I've been on a bicycle," said Greene.

Guthery, his girlfriend and Green rode their bikes all over town. When they were heading back home to have a cookout, Green says they saw a lady a few blocks over, driving erratically.

"We were on 4th Avenue. This woman did not stop at the stop sign on 4th Avenue, and she just turned. She didn't look any way to see if any cars were coming," recalled Greene.

The lady was driving a burgundy 93 Ford Explorer. The victim's sister recounted as they were riding their bikes down 29th Street - the SUV went to 3rd Avenue and quickly made a u-turn, slamming directly into Guthery. They say he flipped over the SUV and landed on the pavement, a few feet away.

Authorities say the driver, Bonnie Winslett, was at fault. She is being charged with running a stop sign and driving with a suspended license.

Guthery, 42, was taken to the Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. He is listed in satisfactory condition.

Police say there were no alcohol or drugs involved in this accident.
