Road worker killed in crash on I-85 at mile marker 48 near Auburn

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Alabama State Troopers tell us a vehicle ran off the road on I-85 in a construction zone near mile marker 48, three miles south of Auburn.  

Troopers say 52-year-old Raymond Stukel, of Oak Brook, IL,  was injured when his 2010 Ford Focus struck a bobcat and a road worker in the median around 10:00 a.m. central time Monday.
 
One of the construction zone workers was killed.  A road worker, 44-year-old Agustin Gonzalez, received minor injuries.

Stukel and Gonzalez were taken to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Troopers tell us charges may be pending.

The name of the construction worker who was killed in Monday's crash is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
