Free Spay/Neuter Offered for South Columbus residents

PAWS Humane has received a $128,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to offer free spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats living in the South Columbus.

Bob Robbins, PAWS Executive Director, said they looked at the number of strays that Animal Care and Control pick up in a year and "it pointed us to the 31903 zip code."

The hope is that by limiting the number of litters in the area there will be less strays picked up, and in turn, less animals euthanized.

All residents living in the 31903 zip code must show proof of home address by a photo ID or recent utility bill.

The offer begins March 1, 2012 and will end once all 2,000 surgery appointments are filled.

Call the PAWS Humane Veterinary Clinic at (706) 565-0035 to make an appointment.
