Closing arguments finishing in gambling trial

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The second day of closing arguments is slated in Alabama's gambling corruption trial in Montgomery.

The prosecution and most of the defense attorneys gave their statements Tuesday. The defense attorney for casino owner Milton McGregor will give his closing statement Wednesday morning and then the prosecution will wrap up. The next step is for the judge to instruct the jury and then for deliberations to begin. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson said deliberations may not begin until Thursday because a juror has to go to a doctor's appointment in Birmingham Wednesday afternoon.

The jurors have been sequestered since the closing statements began, and the judge said they will remain sequestered until they reach a verdict.
