Jordan, Manchester boys advance to GHSA Final Four

DALTON, Ga. (WTVM) - Jeff Blanton's jumper with four-tenths of a second left gave No. 5 Jordan a 48-47 win over 9th ranked Dawson County on Friday in the GHSA Class AA boys quarterfinals played at the Northwest Georgia Trade Center in Dawson.

The area's other team playing in Dalton on Friday also advanced. No. 2 Manchester came back to beat top-ranked Greater Atlanta Christian, 48-46.

Both Jordan and Manchester will play next Thursday in Macon in the GHSA Final Four.

The Taylor County girls also advanced in Class A. The No. 5 Lady Vikings beat 10th-ranked Pelham 50-33. But the 6th ranked boys team was eliminated by No. 8 Turner County 70-43. The Taylor girls will play their state semifinal game on Wednesday.

In Alabama, Central lost to Hoover 66-45 in the AHSAA Class 6A girls state semifinals. The Lady Devils ended the season with a record of 33-2.
