The Muscogee County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in locating a sex offender.

Sgt. Kasey Trombley with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office says the department is on the lookout for 51-year old Curtis Leon Edmond, who was originally charged with sexual abuse in the first degree.

Edmond failure to register as a sex offender in Muscogee County, which is a felony led police to issue a warrant for his arrest. He's a Georgia native who police say may still be in the local area.

A warrant was issued for Edmond on February 29 and days later he's still on the run. He is 6'1 and weighs around 220-pounds.

"We make a lot of our arrest by the public getting involved. We're limited to our resources but the public has more resources, and if they come forward they can always be of assistance to us," says Sgt. Tromley.

Sgt. Tromley also says Edmond is not considered dangerous but the sooner he's off the streets the better.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office.
