Cougars crack national Top 10

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Columbus State made a jump in the national rankings this week. After a 3-2 week against Top 20 foes, the Cougars are now ranked ninth in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and sixth by College Baseball Lineup.

This marks the first time this season that CSU is ranked inside the top-10 by both publications during the same week.

The Cougars moved from 10th to ninth in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll after splitting a series with then-ranked number one West Florida. The Cougars capped off the week taking two-of-three from USC Aiken, who moved to 14th in the latest poll.

The sixth place ranking is the highest CSU has been in the College Baseball Lineup Poll this season. Last week, the Cougars were just outside the top-10 being ranked 11th by the publication.

CSU is the highest ranked Peach Belt Conference team in both polls. Armstrong Atlantic State University (18), Francis Marion (23), UNC Pembroke (29) are all ranked by College Baseball Lineup while USC Aiken (14), Francis Marion (22) and Armstrong (25) are all in the top-30 according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Columbus State will take the field on Tuesday against Stillman at 5:00 p.m. ET at Ragsdale Field before traveling for a three-game series against Lander this weekend.
