A Columbus teenager has been indicted on involuntary manslaughter in connection with an accidental shooting.
Morgan Springer and Parker Williams were outside a Columbus home last October when a gun Springer was reportedly holding discharged and killed his best friend Joseph Connor Weeks, who was inside the home at the time.
Police say the weapon belonged to the homeowners, and the boys could have been preparing for a hunting trip at the time they had the gun.
Once the friends realized Weeks had been shot, they called 9-1-1 and tried to offer him help until the paramedics could arrive.
Weeks underwent several hours of surgery at the Medical Center before he was pronounced dead next day Sunday.
Weeks was a student at Shaw High School.
