iPad debut attracts hundreds to local stores

John Lewis has waited for months to get his hands on the brand new iPad. He was one of the many at Verizon today to purchase Apple's latest coveted piece of technology.

"It's the way of the future the way I look at it, nice new technology. I wanted to be one of the first ones to get it so I can go home and play with it," Lewis said.

Call him kid in a candy store. John wasn't the only one hoping to snag the the new iPad. A number of folks were at AT&T today to grab the sleek touch screen.

"It is the 4G capability of the new iPad, it is the more gigabytes, the more space of the new iPad and that's what so great about it," Sales representative Tanyeka Green said.

"It's so much easier to have and hold in hand so much lighter. You don't have to worry about dragging a big laptop around. Which ever way it goes, majority applications you use on your laptop you can use on your iPad as well," Lewis said.

The new iPad ranges from $600 to $800. The price goes by memory space. A 16 gig iPad costs $629. For 32 gigs you pay $729, for 64 gigs the price is $829.

Compared to the old iPad sales representatives say the newest feature is the camera which takes clearer pictures, and the new high resolution display screen and faster processor.
