Columbus couple accused of operating illegal gambling turn themselves in

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - FOX 54 has learned a Columbus firefighter and her husband are in custody after being indicted in a statewide gambling ring.

The DeKalb County district attorney's office arranged for firefighter Marilyn Clemmons and her husband Kames Clemmons to turn themselves in after they were wanted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Both of the Clemmons were employees of James Kokott, who was arrested in Atlanta last Tuesday for violating the state's gambling law.

They were accused of helping operate an illegal gambling operation at Big Dawg Calling Cards in Columbus.

Marilyn Clemmons had been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an administrative investigation.
