OPELIKA, AL (WXTX) - Investigators in Opelika say they have not been able to identify human child remains. It has been more than a month since they were discovered.
Investigators believe the remains found the first weeks in February belong to a child, between 6 and 10-years old.
However, detailed information including gender, exact age, cause of death and how long the remains had been there are unknown because the FBI is still conducting those forensic tests.
The child's skull and other remains were found near the Brook Haven trailer park off Hurst Street.
Capt. Bruce DeLong with Opelika Police Department says, "I think it's good that we still haven't heard back from them, as a police officer it says to me they are doing a thorough job in their testing.
Investigators are encouraging anyone with any information, even if you think it may be insignificant, to call police.
