COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A 19-year-old Phenix City boy was shot to death in downtown Columbus early Sunday morning, and now police have arrested the man they say is responsible.

Late Saturday night, going in to Sunday morning, a Columbus police officer was working security downtown when he heard a gunshot. He ran to the intersection of Broadway and 12th Street. When he arrived he found 19-year-old Keon Coleman suffering from a single gunshot wound to the right side of his head.

Coleman was rushed to the Columbus Regional Medical Center just after 1:00 a.m., but he didn't survive his injury. He was listed in critical condition and then pronounced dead just before noon Sunday.

Once the shooting turned into a murder, Columbus police went on a search for the main suspect. At 9 o'clock Sunday morning they took 32-year-old Ron Blair into custody. Police say Blair was using a key to the building that used to be known at Hookahmeup in downtown Columbus. A neighbor to the business says Blair recently purchased the building after the bar lost its liquor license and shut down.

The investigation revealed Blair and Coleman got into some sort of argument right before the shooting. Police will not comment on what exactly sparked the fight.

Both the suspect and the victim in this case have been previously charged with crimes. The murder victim Keon Coleman was arrested in Lee County for burglary and theft. The suspect, Rob Blair was charged with aggravated assault in 2009 and was convicted of selling marijuana.

Ron Blair was taken to the Muscogee County Jail, where he is charged with murder, along with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Keon Coleman's body will be sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy Monday.
