PELHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities were searching for a man believed to have drowned at a state park.
Searchers tell WBRC-TV that they were trying to recover the body of the 18-year-old man from a lake at Oak Mountain State Park south of Birmingham.
Park officials say the man was in a paddleboat and stepped out of the boat in shallow water when the boat began to float away. Witnesses tell rescuers the man tried to swim after the boat, but went under.
A friend tried to come to his aid, but was unable to reach him.
