COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - More than $43,000 worth of drugs was seized from a Columbus home and now two men are sitting behind bars for the crime.
A weapon, drug paraphernalia and tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs were all seized thanks to a tip to the sheriff's office.
"The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office received information from concerned citizens about an illegal drug trade problem at 2920 1/2 Colorado Street in the East Wynnton area," explained Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr.
Two men who lived at the home, Terrell Tolbert and Devin Tucker, were arrested. They both had outstanding warrants from the Columbus Police Department and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office. Now they can add felony drug charges to that list of crimes.
Sheriff Darr said they seized the following:
- Approximately 430.9 grams of crack and powder cocaine, street value of $43,090.
- Approximately 19.1 grams of marijuana, street value of $198.
- Four ecstasy pills, street value $40.
- Various drug paraphernalia.
Tolbert and Tucker are now in the Muscogee County Jail and Sheriff Dar says since the investigation is still on-going, more suspects could be joining them, "You know it's going on in the city. Everyone knows that unfortunately this goes on in the city, illegal drug trade. We had the opportunity to catch them, which is a good thing, they are always surprised. That's good. You don't want them to know we are coming. And like you were saying, what does that show, it shows the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office is taking a diligent approach to fighting the problem we have in this community."
The sheriff's office made the bust thanks to a concerned citizen. They say if you ever suspect illegal activity is taking place in your neighborhood, the best way for them to stop it, is by knowing about it. You can always call the Sheriff's Office tip line at 706-653-4225.
