COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are investigating a shooting death that happened Friday afternoon.

Jeffery Morgan, 25, was pronounced dead just after 3pm near the Sands Apartments at Martin Luther King Blvd and Shepherd Drive.

His mother, Gloria Morgan, told News Leader 9 that she never imagined saying goodbye to the light of her life.

"He would give you whatever you asked him for, he would give you his last, and he always made people laugh and smile."

Jeffrey went to Jordan High School and after graduating he began working with his father. His mother  says he was athletic and the life of the family and was working hard to be successful.

His life cut short after what his mother calls a run it with the wrong people.

"The guys robbed him, shot him and car jacked him," says Gloria.

Columbus police are looking for two male suspects in their early 20s with low haircuts, who are believed to be involved in this case.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Columbus police at 706-653-3400.
