Columbus detectives: Armed robbery, murder and hijacking was a setup
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Two of the three men accused of the shooting death of Jeffery Morgan last week appeared in court Thursday morning.
Dana Kessler and Timothy Robinson are charged with murder, along with hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Detectives testified Kessler set up the armed robbery and planned to steal money and drugs from Morgan during a drug deal at the Sands Apartments.
However Robinsons' attorney claims his client didn't know about that plan. "During the statement he gave he had no knowledge that Mr. Kessler had a firearm or that Kessler was going to rob Morgan of drugs or money," said Stacey Jackson, Attorney for Timothy Robinson.
Detectives said Jeffery Morgan died from a single gunshot wound that entered his upper right arm and came to rest in his chest cavity.
Both Kessler and Robinson will be held in the Muscogee County Jail without bond and their case is bound over to Superior Court.
Meanwhile, Columbus police are still looking for a third suspect in that case. Edward Love, 22, is wanted for murder. If you think you have seen him, you are asked to call police.
