HAPPENING TODAY: Columbus to participate in National Foursquare Day meet-up

From Stand and Stretch

COLUMBUS, GA  – Uptown Columbus will be swarming on Foursquare April 16! Join Columbus Foursquare users at Eagle & Phenix Mill, 1201 Front Avenue, as Mayor Teresa Tomlinson proclaims Monday, April 16 as National Foursquare Day in Columbus.

Foursquare users will "check in" at the Eagle & Phenix deck, starting at 5:30 p.m., and enjoy light appetizers, beer for sale and musical entertainment while taking in beautiful views of the recently breached whitewater on the Chattahoochee River. Columbus Foursquare advocate, Lucas Shaffer, of Stand and Stretch will provide a brief presentation on Foursquare usage in Columbus, Ga. and discuss the growth of social media in the area.

Participants don't need to be a Foursquare user to take part in the festivities, sign up for a free account with Foursquare prior to arrival and network with the local experts to get started checking in! Also follow the conversation on Twitter #4sqDay

Foursquare Day is held every year on April 16th. A grass roots event started by Tampa Bay fans of foursquare in 2010, it quickly spread to communities all over the world. Foursquare Day is celebrated differently in each community. Some people have parties, some have lecture, and some simply check in.
