Witnesses: Student struck by car near Hardaway High

News Leader 9 is following an accident that involved a high school student. The accident happened a little after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon near Hardaway High School. 

According to a policereport, a driver, believed to be a parent of a student, reportedly accelerated through a stop sign on Sue Mack Driveafter she passed out approaching the stop sign.

Reportedly, the car then jumped thecurb and rammed into the brick wall near the front steps of the high school.

Valerie Fuller with the Muscogee County School District says a 12th grader was sitting on a bench,reportedly on her phone, and did not see the car coming.

The driver was takento the hospital and remains there in satisfactory condition.

Fuller says the student suffered bumps and bruises.
