COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus High School's principal has been reassigned after school officials say he showed clips of a comedian's stand-up special to faculty members. Students aren't happy about the decision and organized a protest Wednesday morning.

The orderly protest began in the parking lot and moved into the auditorium. They were there to voice their concerns on Dr. Crumbs' reassignment. The students have started a petition and expect to send it to the superintendent and school board.

The change in personnel comes after Dr. Crumbs showed a video of comedian Ron White talking about subject matters school officials say aren't appropriate for professional settings.

In the video, the comedian talks about how "you can't fix stupid."

School officials say that, effective Wednesday, Marvin Crumbs will no longer be principal of Columbus High but has been moved to the Muscogee County Department of Academics.

"The district viewed the video and demeaned it inappropriate to be used in a professional setting.   It was shown at a faculty meeting on April 9th of last week.   It was brought to the attention of the district at that time," said Valerie Fuller, spokesperson for Muscogee County School District.

Fuller says the video was shown only to faculty members and no students were present. She would not comment on who would be taking over as principal of Columbus High School.

School officials add that state law allows for an employee to appeal a reassignment, but the employee must notify the superintendent within 20 days. The appeal would then go before the local board of education for consideration.

Ron White tweeted, "Do we have such a surplus of educators we can fire them for WHAT!!! I will not rest until Dr.Crumb get his s***** job back."

Next week White will perform his comedy routine at the RiverCenter in Columbus.
