Columbus assault, arson suspect arrested in Florida

A man wanted for arson in Columbus was arrested in Tallahassee, Fla this week.

Tedrick Childs, 32, is wanted by authorities in Columbus after they say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend's male acquaintance and attempted to run over his ex-girlfriend and her two year old sister. He is also alleged to have burned down the couple's home on Saint Mary's Road.

According to The U.S. Marshals' Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, Childs was arrested during a felony vehicle stop on Highway 20 in Tallahassee.

Childs was transported to the Leon County Jail and he will await extradition back to Columbus at a later date.

He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, cruelty to children and acts of arson.
