GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A 9-year-old girl has been hospitalized after being mauled by a pit bull dog in Gainesville.
Authorities say Adrinna Adkins was flowed by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after the Thursday afternoon attack.
The Times of Gainesville reports that Adrinna was shielding her pet cat when the dog attacked her inside her home at McEver Vineyards Apartments. Authorities say the dog bit the third-grader repeatedly, leaving bite marks from her elbows to above her shoulders.
