Gov. Nathan Deal to visit Columbus next week

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Georgia Governor Nathan Deal is heading to Columbus next week to sign a series of bills into law which relate to military families and Fort Benning.

The signings will be held at the National Infantry Museum, where Governor Deal has previously visited.

One of the three bills will make it easier for military families to transfer kids from one school district to another.

At the same time, a resolution will be approved changing the names of two interchanges on I-185 after philanthropist John Flournoy and former Columbus mayor Jim Wetherington.
