AMERICUS,GA (WALB) - An Americus plant that made headlines for selling millions of chopsticks to China and creating jobs is closed. Last week Georgia Chopsticks was shut down by a court order.
But the manager says it's all a misunderstanding.
David Hughes told WALB Monday night Georgia Chopsticks was never informed about civil court case in Cochran involving the company.
It involved a $1.3 million check from a Korean investor that bounced in Kansas and a dispute over property.
Hughes says employees are on stand-by after deputies enforced a court order to close the plant last week.
He hopes the order will be lifted by Wednesday.
He believes the matter will be resolved and the company will resume operations.
