Arrest made in Mobile neighborhood beating

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile Police have arrested 44-year-old Terry Rawls and charged him first-degree assault in the beating of 1 his neighbors.

Police said Wednesday that Rawls and the victim, Matthew Owens, had an ongoing dispute involving young people playing basketball and blocking access to the dead-end neighborhood street. Police say a group of adults, possibly armed with chairs, paint cans and baseball bats, attacked Owens on Saturday night.

More arrests are likely, according to authorities.

Owens remained in a Mobile-area hospital on Wednesday, his sister said. She said her brother has a fractured skull and abdominal swelling.
