"Bash on the Banks" comes to Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - If you love barbecue, and you want to get out and enjoy the nice weather this weekend, "Bash on the Banks" is the place to be in Columbus.

Uptown Columbus is hosting the event that will be held on Bay Avenue on the Chattahoochee River Friday night and Saturday.

Admission is free, and attendees can enjoy barbecue from the areas best restaurants.

The Char-Broil People's Choice Awards will also be given out, where people going to "Bash on the Banks" can vote for the best tasting food at the event.

New owner of Fat Freddie's BBQII, Tommy Christmas, is competing in the cook-off contest. He said, "It would be awesome, it would be bragging rights through town, ya know, everybody thinks we have the best barbecue. It would be a big pat on the back.

News Leader 9 asked, "Did you do anything to prepare for this weekend or are you just doing what you always do?" Christmas answered, "I just do what I always do. We do this every day at Fat Freddie's so it just comes natural."
