Semone Doughton

Semone Doughton joined the WTVM News Leader 9 Team in July of 2001. In May of 2007 Semone was promoted to the role of female anchor for WXTX Fox 54 News At 10.

Semone became the primary anchor for Fox 54 Primetime News at 7 which launched in 2012.

Semone also became the face of a weekly segment  titled "Area's Most Wanted," in which she features criminals on the run. Area's Most Wanted which airs every Wednesday night on News Leader Nine at 11 is responsible for locking up dozens of wanted criminals.

She has been a television broadcaster for more than 15 years. She began her television career at Phenix Cable News in Phenix City, Alabama.

From there she went to WRBL Channel 3 in Columbus, Georgia where she worked as Weekend Anchor and Health Reporter.

After that another career height for Semone took place when she moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she worked as Weekend Anchor and Health Reporter.

A few years later she took a job in her hometown of Houston, Texas as a Public Relations Liaison for Houston's first African American Mayor Lee P. Brown.

It wasn't long before Semone made her way back to Columbus, Georgia where she currently works for WXTX Fox 54 News At Ten.

During her long career, Semone has earned several Associated Press Awards, and was honored with a Radio & Television News Director's Association (RTNDA) Edward R. Murrow Award for "Best Spot News in March of 2007.

That award was given to the News Leader Nine Weekend Team for coverage of KIA coming to West Point, Georgia.

Semone is married and has two lovely daughters Shanah and Sydney and a Jack Russell Terrier named Ping Pong.


Who's one of your biggest inspirations?

Right now Obama Barrack is my biggest inspiration, simply because he's broken many barriers to show African Americans there is a place for them in this country as leaders.

Other influences include Oprah Winfrey, the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and Hillary Clinton.

Who would be your dream interview?

I would love to interview Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Stevie Wonder.

What's your favorite food?

Spaghetti with lots of meat is my favorite food.
