MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The University of South Alabama has lifted a campus lockdown that it imposed following an armed robbery at a college dorm hours earlier.
The university announced on its website Sunday night that it had arrested one male suspect and was searching for another in the robbery at gunpoint of a student earlier in the day. A shot was fired but no one was apparently injured.
College officials say the robbers took about $1,000 and a cell phone and fled. They believe the second robber has left campus.
Officials sent out an alert at about 3 p.m. CDT advising students to stay indoors after receiving a report of an armed robbery at the Delta 4 residence hall. The school late Sunday urged students to "resume your normal activities but remain cautious and report any suspicious activity."
