New Armor facility to be named for military legend at Fort Benning

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The 316th Cavalry Brigade's premier instruction building will be named for Gen. George S. Patton Jr. during a Memorialization Ceremony Wednesday at Fort Benning.

Benjamin Patton, grandson of Gen. Patton and author of Growing Up Patton: Reflections on Heroes, History, and Family Wisdom will be the guest speaker and will be available for a brief media opportunity.

This facility has more than 68,000 square feet of useable space with 48 classrooms, cadre offices and a 210 capacity auditorium.  Patton Hall is used to train all future Armor officers in the Armor Basic Officer Leadership Course, and the Army Reconnaissance Course.  The Cavalry Leaders Course will also be taught to Captains and senior Non-Commissioned Officers.
