Trial date set for man charged in '92 superintendent murder

The man accused of killing Muscogee County School Superintendent Jim Burns in 1992 will soon be on trial.

Kareem Lane is scheduled to be in court Thursday for a pre-trial hearing.

He was arrested after new DNA evidence linked him to the hunting knife police believed was used to kill Burns.

FOX 54 learned that jury selection in the case will begin August 20, with the actual trial starting at the beginning of September.

There is a gag order in the case, restricting attorneys and anyone involved with the case from talking specifics with the media.

Fox 54 will continue following this story.
