Atlanta woman sentenced in AFLAC fraud case

An Atlanta woman has been sentenced to federal prison in connection with defrauding Aflac out of about $25,000.

Veronica Kirk Scott was sentenced Tuesday to serve nine months in prison followed by three years of supervised release and ordered to pay over $26,000.

She was found guilty of one count of health care fraud against after a trial in January.

Scott is one of the 20 people charged in the investigation that cost the insurance giant more than $800,000.
