The Chattahoochee Valley continues to experience a late-Spring heat wave

For the third day in a row in Columbus, the record high was either tied or broken.  Temperatures the last three days have been in the 90s, with upper 80s and lower 90s in the forecast for the rest of the week and first part of the weekend.

Chief Meteorologist Derek Kinkade says it's a pattern very similar to what we see in the summer that has already set up across the area.

"Although we're seeing the warmer temperatures a little earlier than usual, the good news is that in a pattern like this, the chances of any major severe-weather producing systems remains very small," he said.

Dry conditions are beginning to become a concern for some with April being a particularly dry month.  The US Drought Monitor is already classifying parts of the Chattahoochee Valley under what they call ‘exceptional' drought – their highest drought classification.
