Three weeks later, murder victim's family still searching for answers

Police in Opelika are still looking for the person responsible for gunning down Walter Cade Spratlin. He was found shot to death inside his business last month.

Sergeant Rob Cook with the Opelika Police Department says, "Our investigators are actively following up on all as they present themselves."

Police do not have many details or leads why Walter Spratlin was killed.

Friends and family members gathered to remember Spratlin at a candle light vigil. Today flowers are draped on a mailbox outside his businesses.  Debra Spratlin and her daughter are hoping to sell off the last remaining tires left in stock then they plan to close up shop.

"It's still hard to come in here. I think I feel his presence like he is here," Spratlin said.

Debra says that the shooter could have possibly entered the shop through the back door and shot her husband. Laura Spratlin says she simply wants to know who killed her father.

"We are waiting on that phone call and we pray to God everyday that somebody comes forth," Laura Spratlin said.

If you have any information regarding this case you are asked to call Opelika police at 334-705-5263
