AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

If you're looking for a job, start looking in Auburn. Over the past two years, Auburn has added nearly 1,400 new jobs, and they're at it again.

Switzerland-based company Weidmann International Corporation opened the doors of its plastics plant in Auburn 9 years ago. Since then, they have been expanding and adding jobs in east Alabama.

"Over the years, this family-owned company has been a steady employer in our community. Currently, with 85 jobs and these … are jobs that provide families of east Alabama not only, a good working environment and a great job, but excellent benefits," said Auburn Mayor Bill Ham, Jr.

Benefits the international company is looking to give to 40 new employees. "We'll be looking for skilled maintenance people in robotics. We'll be looking for skilled technical people in plastics machinery. And of course, we'll be looking for all sorts of different factory jobs, operators, tow motor drivers, etc.," said General Manager Brian Brown.

They are also looking for administrative help. The plant makes plastic parts serving automotive, medical, and industrial industries.

Weidmann is investing $15,000,000 into the nearly 50,000 square feet expansion.

"It's a double sizing of the footprint actually. So, it will be the hub for the whole Americas. We will have here engineers as well, that will take care of new technologies that we have, and this was coming all the time out of Europe, so we will have that as a hub base for the U.S." said Weidmann representative Thomas Freidurgaus.

The expansion to the plant on Enterprise Drive will make the plant a hub for using new technologies to make automotive parts that are usually imported from Europe.

"For Auburn it's really a new technology, as well for plastics division...worldwide," said Freidergaus.
