JOHNS CREEK, GA (CBS46) -

Authorities have charged the driver of the Honda in Saturday's head-on collision on McGinnis Ferry Road.

The crash injured more than a half dozen people, including two children. It happened along McGinnis Ferry Road near River Walk Landing in Johns Creek.

"The driver of the white Lexus was entrapped, as well as the driver of the black minivan was entrapped," said Lt. Nick Curry of Johns Creek police.

CBS Atlanta has learned that the driver of the Honda allegedly crossed the center line and slammed into an oncoming SUV. Rescue crews used the Jaws of Life to extract each driver from their vehicles.

"Folks just don't understand it's a 35 mile speed limit," said Sudhir Sohani, a local resident who lives in the nearby River Walk subdivision.

He didn't witness the crash firsthand, but said motorists speed up and down the stretch of road.

Six adults were injured. They were taken to North Fulton Hospital and Gwinnett Medical Center. The two children injured were taken to Scottish Rite Hospital.

Both of those children were riding in the Honda. One of them was released Saturday night. The other was kept overnight for observation, but was expected to be released Sunday morning, according to Lt. Chris Byers with Johns Creek police. All other victims treated at hospitals have been released.

The driver of the Honda was charged with failure to maintain a lane and two counts of failure to properly restrain a child.
