Baby twins taken from parents after suspected child abuse

Infant twins are now in foster care while Columbus police investigate their possible child abuse case.

The Columbus Police Department is investigating a child abuse case that has sent a set of twins, who are said to live at this home on Japonica Drive, to the hospital.

On Tuesday, May 8th a two month old girl was treated at the Columbus Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Egelston Children's Hospital in Atlanta for further treatment. Police say the baby girl suffered broken ribs and a possible head injury. Egleston Hospital was unable to release the condition of the young child.

Then on Thursday, May 10th the baby girl's twin brother was treated at Rivertown Pediatrics, where the doctor discovered three broken ribs. He was then taken to the Medical Center, but was not admitted.

Police reports state their grandmother took the little boy to the doctor after learning of the injuries to the little girl.

The infant twins have been placed in foster care while police continue their investigation into the case. So far no charges have been filed and warrants have not been issued.
