What you need to know about the new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson

If you are headed out of the country by way of the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta, you should be aware of the new international terminal.

The Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal officially opened its doors Wednesday and passengers from around the world got their first look at the new facility.

"The new international terminal is Atlanta's new front door to the world," said Richard Anderson, Delta's CEO.

The first flight out of the new terminal was headed to Tokyo and was given a water salute as it left the tarmac.

Atlanta-bound international passengers no longer will have to recheck baggage, and they will exit through the international terminal.

The new terminal has a completely different entrance than domestic flights.  It is accessible from I-75, Exit 239.
