Appointments for several positions, including principals at seven schools, were not approved during Muscogee County School Board meeting Monday night. The seven appointments were recommended by outgoing Superintendent Susan Andrews.

The appointment of a Director of Adult Education, a CTAE supervisor, along with the appointment of elementary principals at Brewer, Britt David, Cusseta Road, North Columbus and Waddell were all rejected by school board members.

School board member, Cathy Williams, told News Leader 9, "Apparently five members of the board decided to send a message…I'm not entirely sure what that message is."

Richards Middle and Double Churches Middle School principal appointments were also voted down during the meeting.

Another school board member told us why she voted the way she did Monday night. "I did not vote against these people, I feel for them. It was a delay and there are a lot of things that go on people are not aware of. We just have to make our decision on how we feel that's best," remarked Beth Harris.

Officials did approve the hiring of McPherson & Jacobson from Nebraska to handle the search for Andrews' replacement. Also, the board approved a $0.05 increase to the price of school lunches.
