Opelika child hit by mini train, injured

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - A little girl suffered a broken bone and other injuries after being hit by a miniature train ride at an Opelika city park.

The incident happened Tuesday at the Municipal Park off of Rocky Brook Road.

According to Opelika police the 5-year-old child wandered onto the tracks and was struck by the small, moving train.

She was taken to East Alabama Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, including a broken leg.

Police say there is no evidence of negligence on any of the parties involved and it is being treated as an accident.
