Voters put local candidates to the question


Crowds of people from Columbus put some local candidates to thetest Wednesday night during a forum put on by the Southern Anti-RacisimNetwork.

Candidates for the Clerk of Municipal Court, Clerk of SuperiorCourt, candidates for the office of Muscogee County Sheriff, and DistrictAttorney met with voters to discuss their platforms at the Columbus Library offMacon Road.

Theresa El-Amin with the hosting organizations says the forum wasjust the first in a series of forums the Southern Anti-Racism Network plans tohost.

"There are many first time voters here with BRAC and manythings that have happened to bring people to Columbus.  So, I think thisis a great opportunity to have a series of forums to help people know who isrunning for office," said El-Amin.

Wednesday night's session focused on the court system of Muscogee County,but the group plans to have another forum on June 12 for school board races.
