People looking to hit thesands for Memorial Day weekend didn't have to go far.
Robin Lake at Callaway Gardenwas packed with beach goers soaking up the rays and enjoying a national watersports tournament.
"Callaway Gardens hashad this beach since 1953. It is the world's largest inland, man-made whitesand beach, and is a surprise to most people," Callaway Gardens PublicRelations manager Rachel Crumbley.
A surprise families tookfull advantage of as they spread throughout the land and water enjoying all theactivities.
"We have not only sunbathing and swimming, but we table tennis and a shuffle board and all kinds ofclassic traditional activities for families. We also just have this greatatmosphere for people to come. And when you come, you get to do the beach stuffas well as the things that are in the garden," Crumbley said.
Included in the MemorialDay celebrations was the 53rd Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament.
"It's just an amazingevent because these are the top of the top athletes in their sports,"Crumbley said.
"It's was a awesometournament. The Masters is one of the most prestigious events that we have aswater-skiers. It's always a blast every year; every Memorial Day to come up toCallaway Gardens and perform and compete and have a great time out here,"Professional water-skier Brooks Wilson said.
To cap off a great day,people enjoyed live music and dancing. The Army's Silver Wings also dropped into celebrate.
