OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 2 Alabama (56-7) opened the Women's College World Series with a 5-3 win over No. 7 Tennessee (52-13) on Thursday evening at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The win marks the second season in a row the Crimson Tide has earned a victory in the WCWS opening game.

Sophomore pitcher Jackie Traina improves to 38-2 on the season which ties her with Shelley Laird (2000) for the most wins in a single season in school history. Alabama scored four runs to open the game in the first inning as senior Cassie Reilly-Boccia ripped a three-run double to provide the punch.

Alabama will now await the winner of the Arizona State versus Oregon contest for its second round matchup in the winner's bracket. The game is scheduled for Friday, June 1, with first pitch slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
