Property values are on the rise in Columbus, which means those buying homes in several districts in the city will be paying more in taxes.

Monday, Columbus Consolidated Government officials released their annual tax digest which shows that Districts 1, 5, 6 and 7 saw an increase in value of 4.7%.

The current millage rate is not increasing, but homes sold or renovated will be taxed at the new higher value.

District 2 saw a 3.50% rise while District 4 saw a 1% increase in home valuation.

The attached map explains what area each district covers.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings at the Government Center next Tuesday, June 12 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The last public hearing will be held June 19 at 9 a.m.
