FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a Third Infantry Division soldier who went missing off the coast of St. Simons Island.
Fort Stewart spokesman Lt. Col. Benjamin Garrett says Staff Sgt. Calvin Leblanc was found near the pier at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Leblanc went missing Sunday evening while swimming with his family near East Beach.
He was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Chaplain support and family assistance have been extended to the soldier's family.
