Formercongressman Howard "Bo" Callaway is in the hospital, recovering from emergencysurgery.
Callaway Gardens released astatement saying the 85-year-old suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. He washospitalized in Columbus and transported to Emory Hospital in Atlanta aftercomplaining of a severe headache. Callaway is currently in the ICU.
Callaway served one term in congress, before losing a close race for governorin the mid-1960s. He was also the former Secretary of the Army and a keyparticipant with his parents, Cason and Virginia Callaway, in the creation ofCallaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA.
